Investment choice

You can obtain the right to residence in Andorra in various ways. We specialize in two of the possibilities: through business and investment.

We perform almost all necessary actions on behalf of the client, with the inevitable exception of the client’s personal visit to the immigration department and medical examination.

If you wish to keep your flexibility and you don’t want to commit to residing in the Principality for more than three months a year then the option of obtaining residency through investment is for you.

The residence investment options include:

  • Buying a property in Andorra.
  • Placing funds in a deposit account at a local bank.
  • Purchase of bonds issued by local issuers and approved for immigration purposes.

Your Bank will be able to offer you various options, taking into account your goals.

It can be a mix of 2 or more types of investments, it is, however, important that they amount to a minimum of €350,000.

You can decide on the choice of such an investment within 6 months after you receive your residence permit.

In addition to such an investment, the resident must deposit €50,000 with a local financial institution.

Both parts of the investment must be maintained throughout the entire period of residence, however, they are fully refundable in the event of residence termination.

At the time of filing the migration dossier, the applicant should already have an address on the territory of the Principality.

Opening a bank account

The choice of a bank will be determined by your financial profile.

The financial profile is based not only on the amount of available funds that can be placed on the account but also preferences for the creation of an investment portfolio, sources of funds, as well as, many other factors that need to be considered before applying to the bank.

Good preparation will significantly reduce the time and the volume of documents to be provided for verification. We will be happy to help you find the shortest path.

Documents

All documents supporting your residence application must have their authenticity confirmed with apostilles and must be translated into Spanish, Catalan, or French (some originals in English are also accepted).

All documents are considered valid for 3 months from issue date. Due to the chronic congestion of the local migration service, we recommend that you book your appointment at least one month in advance of your planned visit.

Required documents include

  • Passport copies.
  • Civil status certificate.
  • Certificate of no criminal record from the country/ies of origin and residence.
  • Tax declaration for the previous year, from the country of residence.
  • Signed oath to keep residence in Andorra for at least 90 days of a year.

You will also need to obtain a medical insurance policy at any of the insurance companies of the Principality.

In addition, you will need to provide a certificate from your Andorran bank showing the adequacy of funds in your account. Sufficiency of funds is defined by law as 300% of the minimum wage and amounts to approximately €39,000 for the main applicant and another 100% for each next family member, annually.

In any case, we will create an individual list of documents for you, with a full description of the process at the very beginning of work with you.

Your residence permit

Having received a resident card, you need to register as a resident in your parish (there are 7 in total in the country).

The residence permit is initially issued for one year, then for two years with each subsequent renovation, and after 7 years for a period of 10 years.

Further steps

As a resident, you have at your disposal government bodies, schools, medical institutions, municipalities and free language courses. Ski resorts offer residents discounts for seasonal ski-passes.

We will be happy to assist you in resolving any issues related to your stay in the Principality and we can provide concierge service.

Don’t forget to exchange your driving license, within one year of receiving your residence status. During the first year, you may be able to do this in a simplified manner.

“Active residents” who have received a residence permit in connection with doing business in the country (compte propi) must register with CASS the Mandatory Social and Medical Insurance Fund.

You are entitled to apply for a 50% reduction to the quota of deductions to the fund for the first year. Deductions amount to approximately 250 euros per month (reduction included), they give you the right to automatic compensation of medical expenses in the amount of 75%.

At a doctor visit, it is enough to present your personal CASS card and the money will be returned to your account automatically.
